Unusual French Paper Mache Clown in original Costume

Unusual simple French paper mache clown in original antique silk costume from France around 19th. century .

Without bonnet 23 " ( 59 cm ) paper mache clown with socket head with deep modeling and hand painted face and hair .Has simple paper mache fully jointed body with straight wrists.

Has lovely facial painting with close mouth and gentle expression.

Wearing very nice silk costume .... and repalced felt booties , original silk bonnet .

Has generally good condition to age , note repair at the back of his head.

It´s a simple Paris Doll Store or Department Store doll which was sold at 19th. century for a very reasonable price which make this dolls very rare to find today !

This lovely Clown would be a very nice guy for your Theater or Polichinelle scene but of course he would be also a very good friend for your favorite doll in your collection !!
