One of the most beautiful dolls by Emile Jumeau is known as " Bebe Triste" or Long Face Jumeau from France circa 1885.
This rare model of an very beautiful Bebe was designed and sculpted by the great French artist " Carrier Belleuse " on commission from Maison Jumeau and is now known as " Bebe Triste " in reference to her lovely sad facial expression !
A pretty and rare Bebe with best quality of pale bisque and painting , pressed bisque socket head with elongated and very full cheeks and chin.
She has dreamy blue glass paperweight inset eyes with dark eyeliner , fine painted lashes and mauve blushed eye shadow. Brushstroked brows and accented eye corners . Closed mouth with deep modeling and shaded and outlined lips.
Beautiful separately modeled pierced ears and pretty dark blonde curled mohair wig , missing cork pate.
Head mark size 12 / about 25" ( 65 cm )
Has her original French composition and wooden fully jointed body with typical straight wrists.... in good condition to age but has played tracks with color refresh at her legs below.
Her complete condition is generally good , to note a very well done small provessional repair of hairline at her head crown ..... please see my pictures !!! It´s complete covered by her wig and not to see with your eyes if you see the doll in person , only if you see this in a lamp !So it don´t disturb her facial beautie !! Otherwise is her pressed bisque head free of damage , chip or other problems .
The doll wears beautiful set of antique undergarments and superb French ecru coat costume fully with hand embroidered decoration and large back bow. Has matching high brim bonnet , stocking and market size 12 leather shoes by Maison Jumeau .
Most beautiful and rare 25" ( 65 cm ) popular Bebe with lovely quality of bisque and sad face expression , has original body and body finish and wonderful costume.
Because of her fine and hard to see bisque problem she has only a fraction of her normal price !!!
