Phalibois was a famous house for special beautiful Monkey automatons and in Paris at 19th. century , they automatons are popular by collectors and they are very rare to find at this times !
We could offer a lovely Monkey Marquise Violinist by this famous house on a walnut case which contains a barrel organ that by turning the back crank music plays and let play the Monkey .
The lovely Monkey has a hand painted and modeled paper mache head with amber glass eyes and movable mouth. When he plays he moves his head in a realistic manner and nestling it into the violin when he begins to play. His eyes open and close and while his mouth slightly open and closes.
He sit on a velvet base and wears a nice burgundy costume , has painted stocking and shoes on his wooden legs. He hold his original violin and his violin case has he on the side. In front stands his music stand and his Marquise hat on the floor !
A beautiful and rare automaton which is in generally good condition to age ... the music plays a little heavy and it would needs a little work to cleaning from the dust of the past !!
Automaton total high are ... 22" ( 56 cm ) x 10" (26 cm ) x 14" ( 36 cm )
